We have all been there before experiencing a range of minor discomfort to immobilizing agony; lasting from minutes to days. The unfortunate reality is that a lot of headaches are usually treated with painkillers. This only numbs the symptoms but doesn’t treat the cause.
Below are the differences between headaches and migraines:
- Tension headache are the most common type of headache. It can cause mild, moderate, to intense pain in your head, neck, and behind your eyes. They are caused by muscle contractions in the head and neck regions.
- Migraines usually involve the whole head, they come on suddenly and can induce nausea and vomiting (in very severe cases).
- Cluster headaches happen abruptly. They are an intense throbbing pain, arising high in one nostril and then spreading behind the eye on the side of the face the cluster headache is effecting. These cluster headaches can affect an individual once to several times daily in clusters; and can last for weeks or even months.
Chiropractic care is a drug free approach for people suffering from migraines, cluster headaches and tension headaches. Myself and fellow chiropractors are the only healthcare professionals trained to analyze and correct subluxations (which is a hard bone on a soft nerve). Subluxations can cause pressure on the brain stem and affect blood supply to the head; which can cause pain that feels like a headache.
