Life can get stressful and overwhelming from time to time; especially when you’re balancing work, school, family, and other commitments that arise. It is very important to take some time out of your busy schedule to unwind and relax, this will allow your body to physically and mentally recharge. Below are some exercises that can be beneficial for you and your family:
- Belly breathing (pictured to the right) has been shown to reset the nervous system. There have been studies conducted showing a decrease in fatigue and anxiety, when practiced regularly. (To see the benefits of deep breathing, you will want to practice it 3–4 times per day for at least 5 minutes.)
- Yoga is not only used for pain management; studies have shown that when you practise yoga regularly it can help reduce stress.
- Meditation is another technique commonly used to decrease stress, anxiety, and depression.
You are able to perform these exercises in the comfort of your own home or you can find a yoga/meditation class in your community.
